It'll be £170k pw Harry Maguire...

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
Knowing Moyes, he will play Fabianski before Areola, hence being captain.

Some of you are shouting for Aguerd. Is he verbally og tough enough in the dressing room?

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
If it meant he would want to be here and act like a captain, that would really be the only way I would want Maguire.

I would probably want him playing rather JWP (given what else is in our midfield, even with Alvarez) or Soucek, to be honest.

I have loved Ogbonna from the beginning, but probably too nice to be on field captain. And again I hope he is not playing in big games.

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
If Soucek is captain then the manager needs shooting. Honestly be one of the worse calls he could make.

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
I've been wondering about this as well. I'm guessing you're right in saying it'd be either Maguire or JWP if they sign.

The lack of leaders is quite apparent though, I don't think it will be Aguerd, I'm guessing he was just captain for the day because we were playing his former team. Soucek was captain at his previous club I believe and is also national captain as well I think, so in reality he's got to be the best option despite his obvious limitations on the pitch.

Personally I'd go school playground style and give it to our best and most exciting player - Paqueta, maybe make someone like Ogbonna club captain behind the scenes so he can do all the other stuff that a captain is supposed to do off the field.

For club captain, I mean.

Possibly it was going to be Cresswell before he started allegedly agitating for a move away?

Anyway, it's another mess at the club.

"You can overdo the knicker-wetting at this stage, but I'm seriously concerned about the forthcoming season. We're weaker in every department - team, squad, leadership, backroom staff and "upstairs" (with this ludicrous uncertainty about the new technical director etc and a new, inexperienced board member).

Still got a few days to try to sort out some of this mess before the season starts. But right now, we've been the perfect blueprint for how not to run a major football club over a summer break."

I'm surprised to see 9 teams ahead of us with the bookies regarding relegation. I'm guessing that will change soon enough.

Fabianski or Ogbonna as club captain I reckon and one of Soucek Zouma or potentially Emerson in individual / Europa games when those two aren't present.

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
It's a ridiculous situation - we don't really have an experienced captain in the squad: the likes of Aguerd don't captain their country (Saiss is Morocco's skipper) and didn't captain previous clubs.

It's one (of several) reasons why Moyes has his eye on Maguire and/or Ward-Prowse.

I don't think it will be Soucek, hasn't Aguerd and Ogbonna been given it last two games. Will be Aguerd unless Ogbonna starts or we have a new signing by Saturday..

soucek. in the jock's eyes, he's the first name on the team sheet

The fact that there is no obvious candidate speaks volumes about that squad

Aguerd for me.

*then he should have been the first player through the door the first day the transfer window opened.

Re: So who the heck is the new skipper?
There's no stand out candidates. I can't think of one player I'd put the armband on.

If the plan was to bring in a new captain, then he should have been the first player through the first day the transfer window opened.

We're a complete fucking shambles at the moment.

Coffee - Not sure Ogbanna will even start? But you agree it could be a new arrival?
